Nobuyoshi Araki “Ai no Jikan” opening reception, Leica Gallery Ginza
Leica M7 with 50mm f2.8 M-mount Elmar
Photographer: Nobuyoshi Araki

Araki is an absolute whirlwind of energy- I wasn’t about to ask him for a shot of his M7 while he was being filmed by NHK and giving a gallery talk to a rep from Leica.  He did mention/proclaim that this particular camera was a gift from Leica, complete with his name engraved on the top plate.
The picture here is obviously a crop from a larger file and interestingly enough it was (accidentally) lit by one of the dozen other flashes going off from people with cameras next to me while he was speaking to the German guest about why he won’t shoot digital.
